Five ways into the centre, from the 18-minute train to a driver waiting in the arrivals hall.
Arlanda lies 37 km north of Stockholm city centre. Five options take you into the centre. They differ less in where they go than in speed and price, and the right one depends on your luggage and how many of you are travelling.

Children travel free up to age 17 on the Arlanda Express when accompanied by an adult, up to age 7 on the airport bus, and up to age 17 through the Arlandapassage.
The train when time matters: with a tight connection, after a night flight, with children, or when you're still in the city on the day you leave. It doesn't depend on traffic on the E4 and makes no stops. For families there's the price advantage too, because children and teenagers travelling with an adult pay nothing.
Bus or Pendeltåg if you're travelling alone with light luggage and can allow around 40 minutes. The bus goes without changes to Cityterminalen by Central Station, stopping at a few places in the northern districts along the way. The Pendeltåg is mainly worth it if you're buying an SL ticket for your days in Stockholm anyway.
Taxi or private transfer if there are four or more of you, you have lots of luggage or your accommodation is outside the centre. Then the price for the whole vehicle quickly compares well with four individual fares.
The airport train runs non-stop every 12 to 15 minutes to Stockholm C (Central Station), platforms 1 and 2. For Terminal 2 you board at Arlanda Södra, for Terminal 5 at Arlanda Norra. The ticket is valid for 90 days on any departure in either direction and can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before. The Flygbussarna airport bus runs every 15 minutes from Terminal 5 via Terminal 2 to Cityterminalen by Central Station, taking 42 minutes. Adults aged 26 and over pay 129 SEK one way, travellers aged 8 to 25 pay 99 SEK, and children up to 7 ride free. The ticket is valid for three months. Stockholm's commuter rail, the Pendeltåg, runs line 40 to Arlanda C station beneath Sky City, between Terminal 4 and Terminal 5. The journey to Stockholm City takes 38 minutes. At the airport, the Arlandapassage is added to the regular SL ticket, a station fee of 157 SEK for adults aged 18 and over. The easiest option is the SL + Arlanda combined ticket for 200 SEK, which covers both and is valid for 120 minutes. You can buy it in the SL app, at Pressbyrån or at the SL service centre at Arlanda C.
Note that the Arlandapassage only applies if you board or leave the train at Arlanda C. You don't pay it on the Arlanda Express.
Only Swedavia's contracted taxis wait at the airport, at the ranks outside the Terminal 5 arrivals hall and outside Terminal 2. Journeys to the marked inner-city zone have a maximum fare of around 800 SEK for up to four people, with a higher fixed amount for larger groups. Outside the zone, the meter runs.
Drivers who approach you in the arrivals hall are not contracted taxis. Go straight to the taxi rank.
With a private transfer, a driver meets you in the arrivals hall. They track your flight, hold the pick-up if you're delayed and wait 60 minutes from landing at no extra charge. You can choose a saloon for up to three people with two suitcases and hand luggage, or a minivan for up to seven people with up to eight pieces of luggage. The fixed price starts at 120.47 € and covers the whole vehicle, not each person.
